Its' important to determine whether you require an Accountant or a Bookkeeper.
The responsibilities of Accountants and Bookkeepers can overlap, as bookkeeping serves as part of the accounting process. However, their roles are different.
A Bookkeeper handles the daily financial tasks, such as recording Sales, Invoices, Bills, etc. Their job centers on maintaining accurate financial records, but doesn't usually extend to interpreting those records or providing analysis.
An Accountant works with the data provided by the Bookkeeper to
Review financial statements
Analyze and interpret the figures
Compile detailed reports from the data
Provide financial advice based on their findings
A Bookkeeper's accuracy sets the foundation for an Accountant's analysis, which can greatly influence business decisions and overall financial health.
Bookkeepers are a great, cost effective choice for managing day-to-day transactions, but if you're looking for in-depth financial insight or strategic advice, an accountant may be essential.
So the question is, do you need a Bookkeeper, an Accountant or both?
